Even restaurants order out for delivery once in awhile…

I love TV, and even more than TV, I love DVR.  DVR allows you to skip commercials and rewind live TV (this is usually only used to look at hot girls again or verify a mistake in the shows continuity).  With the luxury of skipping commercials you instantly think “wow, I’ll never have to watch another commercial trying to get me to drink Vitamin Water or be more concerned with the term ‘weak stream’ “.  However it never happens!  If anything you may use the DVR to re-watch a particular commercial.  There is one commercial I am seeing a lot right now that I have huge problem with.  I know most people have seen it.  It’s the one that takes place in a hip restaurant/bistro and they show people enjoying their gourmet entrees only to have this bombshell dropped on them - “the pasta was delivered by Pizza Hut!”.  The patrons can’t believe it! Since there is a hidden camera, this has to be true!  Right?  There are so many things that make me want to scream about this commercial…

1) There is a gentlemen that is a patron that I know for a fact has been in other commercials and small roles on TV.  He may not be famous enough to have a profile on IMDB, but I assure you he is an actor.  The chances of this actor being caught on camera during this ultimate duping are about as slim as Sportscenter going a week without reporting an overpaid athelete being arrested.  My point is that if there is one actor, they are probably all actors.

2) The next part that pisses me off about this commercial is when one woman is asked “what did you get?”, her response is “I got the mac and cheese with bacon”.  That wasn’t a clue that maybe this high-end bistro was trying to pull a fast one.  Mac and Cheese WITH bacon?  What, were they out of Spaghetti O’s with cut up hot-dogs?  And the part that assures me she too is actress, is that she says the infamous Mac and Cheese with bacon is, get this, “decadent!” (Thanks Obi for hating this commercial as much as me to verify the exact verbage)

3) Just because I cannot eat Pizza Hut without taking a week off of work, does not mean I am bitter towards them.  Some people love Pizza Hut, whatever, that’s your problem.  But, you can’t tell me that Pizza Hut PASTA would fool a room of people into thinking it’s gourmet restaurant quality pasta.  There is f’n no way.  Have you ever seen Pizza Hut pasta?  No matter what “kind” you get it all looks the same…dry, powdery (first time that adjective has ever been used for pasta), and banquet-like (another first).

4) You can have pounds of this delivered right to your door step.  That’s right, pounds!  When was the last time you could have anything delivered to your home that is measured in pounds?  Aside from ordering a bowling ball online, I can’t think of anything.  Something about the phrase “I would like 3 pounds of your best Alfredo pasta” doesnt have the appeal to me that it should.

Bottom line, Pizza Hut sucks.  I’m sure their new pasta does too.  Don’t let these F-List actors lead you to believe otherwise.  I wish there was a Papa John’s near me.

My general rule of thumb is: any pizza place with more than 3 locations (6 if in NYC) can’t possibly be worth eating. I went from Queens where my pizza place was owned by a Gotti brother and they made their cheese and sauce from scratch to SoCal…where they have pizza parties with COSTCO pizza. That would be kinda funny….if it weren’t true.

I agree 100% that is the most infuriating commercial. It even tops the allergy medication commercial that lists congestions and watery eyes as a side effect.
